Avery's 2023 Scarf

Post Question: What is your favorite yarn to use for making scarves?

Materials:

• 3 Skeins - Yarn Bee Soft Secret - Hot Orange

• US 15 Circular Needles

Avery also wanted to try his hand at knitting. So I took him to the store and he picked out this awesomely bright yarn! He LOVES orange. For Avery, he dipped his toe into knitting and figured out this really wasn't for him.

I started by trying to use the needles that we bought him, US Size 7, because they were also orange. I didn't pay one bit of attention to what size needle you should actually use for this yarn! Eek. I got through an entire skein of the yarn, but the feel felt more like it could be used as a place mat. LOL. So I went back to the store to buy more yarn and actually read the label where it said the best size would be US 15. So I switched it up and boy am I glad that I did!!

By using Size US 15 needles the yarn really was able to shine. It is so thick and soft that I am a bit jealous of his scarf at this time. The needle size also helped the project go a lot quicker! I ended up trying to make it about as long as I made Jera's and am glad that I did since he can loop it around his neck a few times to really stay warm and cozy.

I definitely want to try more of this yarn out for scarves for the rest of the family in the future. Next time I'll switch up the stitch though to do some more decorative ones.
