Post Question: What was one of your earlier projects that you didn't do the greatest at, but still learned a lot from?
Materials:
Needle Size - Unknown
I Love This Yarn - Colors unknown
Stitch Pattern/s:
Garter

This blanket was one that I started after Jera was born and was still working on building larger items outside of scarves or wash clothes. So I pretty much took the basic knit stich and made large scarves that I then planned to sew together. I also believe that I used a green and yellow yarn that I knitted together at the same time for the larger pieces and then a brown and pink yarn that I knitted together for the smaller pieces. I honestly can't remember exactly if they were separate yarns or one yarn that had those colors died throughout. I just remember the blanket was VERY heavy! I used a lot of yarn and probably not the right needle size so it ended up being very chunky.
I also used old yarn that I had lying around for a couple years and when I went back to buy new yarn the colors were deeper. Haha. You can see that between the green/yellow's on the right of the photo compared to the left and the pink/brown on the left being darker than the one on the right.
Thankfully Jera loved the blanket and we still have it and she pulls it out every winter to use on her bed. One of these days I'll redeem her and make a more intricate blanket with fun colors/patterns and use the right yarn and needle sizes. LOL! You live and learn.
Things I learned from Jera's Blanket:
You'll never get better if you don't just buckle down and practice
Pay attention to the yarn size and the needles to go along with it
Always buy the amount of yarn you need for a project at the same time so you don't have quite the wide difference in colors
Sewing pieces together isn't as hard as I thought it was going to be (but I'm still always worried to wash it for fear of it unraveling...haha!)
Your kids love when you specially make things for them, it's almost like they know how much time and love went into the project!
