Post Question: Have you ever tried your hand at socks? Have you stuck with making more or were you more of a one and done sock creator?

Materials:

  • Size 2 Aluminum Double Point Needlesl

  • Two skeins of Patons Kroy Socks Yarn - Color Unknown (I made these 5 years ago)

Pattern:

I decided to make a pair for my husband and then had enough yarn left over to make a pair for our daughter. She was 5 at the time.

I remember being very overwhelmed with the whole process. I'd never used double pointed needles before. I'd never used needles that small before and on top of that I was trying a brand new pattern to me. I ended up making these two pairs and then determining that I wouldn't make socks ever again!

I laugh at myself now because I have made at least 6 pairs since. I didn't start back up until this year though since I had such a bad memory of the stress it was to teach myself all of these new techniques. Eek. (Thank you to all the amazing people who actually share their knowledge via YouTube videos!!!) However, my adventure into Knitted Knockers really got me comfortable with smaller, double point needles and that's when I decided to branch back out into socks. You can read more about Knitted Knockers HERE.

While our daughter has grown out of her socks, Tony still wears his regularly! It's awesome to see how durable these are with how often he wears them and how often we wash them. I'm now challenging myself to make a pair for each of my family members from my Mom and Dad to my Brother and Sister and their spouses. Those I'm doing in more of a trickle and gifting them the socks as they are made. I had thought about doing them as Christmas gifts, but with our move and getting settled in I decided not to overly stress myself out about Christmas. Hopefully they all enjoy them as they receive them and truly know they are knit with love!
